After three intensive months of using the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones across various daily scenarios, I can provide a well-founded assessment of these premium headphones. As a long-time audio enthusiast and frequent traveler, I've tested numerous high-end headphones, yet the QuietComfort Ultra sets new standards in several areas.
The build quality is expectedly excellent. The matte plastic finish appears premium and is less susceptible to fingerprints than glossy surfaces. The ear cups are generously sized and completely encompass my ears without applying pressure. The headband is optimally padded and distributes weight evenly. Even after multi-hour listening sessions, no pressure points develop.
The noise cancellation is simply phenomenal. Compared to the already outstanding QC45, Bose has raised the bar once again. Constant ambient noise like air conditioning, traffic, or aircraft cabins are almost completely eliminated. Particularly impressive is the suppression of mid-frequencies - nearby conversations are reduced to a barely perceptible minimum. The Aware mode works excellently, allowing important environmental sounds through without completely interrupting the music.
Sonically, the Ultra offers a balanced, slightly warm signature. The bass is present without dominating, the mids are clear and detailed, and the highs are crystalline without becoming harsh. The new Immersive Audio feature with Spatial Audio is a genuine highlight - with compatible content, it creates an impressive soundstage that particularly shines with orchestral pieces and film soundtracks. Head tracking functions precisely and contributes to realism.
The battery life of up to 24 hours with active noise cancellation is practical. In my tests, I consistently achieved 22-23 hours at medium volume. Quick charging is efficient - 15 minutes of charging provides approximately 2.5 hours of playback.
The Bose Music app is intuitive and offers extensive customization options. The EQ is precisely adjustable, with various modes preset for different situations. Connection quality via Bluetooth 5.3 is stable, and the multipoint function works reliably.
Criticism points are few: the price is definitely elevated, and the touch controls on the right ear cup occasionally react too sensitively to unintentional contact.
