Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV: SUGO, New Cars and the Car Viewer Arrive

Polyphony Digital unfolds the Spec IV universe: Update 1.72 brings the SUGO track, six new cars, and innovative garage features for racing enthusiasts.

The racing simulation universe of Gran Turismo 7 receives a massive boost with Update 1.72 and the launch of Spec IV (Part 1). Available now, players get a fresh cinematic intro, the legendary Japanese SUGO circuit, six new cars, and deep gameplay enhancements. This first part promises to redefine the boundaries between virtual reality and motorsport history.

Particularly remarkable is the broad vehicle lineup, blending nostalgia with future-oriented performance. Classic French charm is represented by the Citroën 2CV 6 Charleston from 1986, while the iconic Ferrari F355 Berlinetta from 1994 embodies the sporting precision of the nineties. Modern mobility is shown by the Honda Step WGN Spada Premium Line from 2023, while the brand-new Mazda RX-VISION GT3 EVO (2026) demonstrates that Polyphony Digital brings future, street-unreleased designs to virtual life. This mix of classic pearls and high-modern GT models allows players to comprehensively showcase their collecting and driving skills.

With the introduction of the Sportsland SUGO circuit in Japan, an iconic track known for its technical challenges and fast corners returns to the roster. New World Circuits events on Sugo, Autopolis, Spa, and the Dragon Trail challenge players to master their cars in various competition classes like the WTC600, WTC800, or the European Sunday Cup 400. Three new Extra Menus in the Café—dedicated to high-performance EVs, tuned GT-Rs, and legendary Le Mans winners—complement the experience and demand collector-oriented strategies, as they unlock only at higher Collector Levels.

Technically and visually, the update brings the player closer than ever. The fresh cinematic intro sets visual highlights, while the new Car Viewer in the garage invites players to inspect their vehicles from virtually any angle. The Collector Level cap has been raised to 90, offering veteran collectors deeper progression. These measures show how Polyphony Digital, under Kazunori Yamauchi's guidance, continuously works on a community that appeals to both casual fans and hardcore sim-racing veterans.

For the nerd community, the Spec IV Update Part 1 is a clear signal: Gran Turismo 7 is not just a game, but a living platform for automotive passion. The combination of historic masterpieces, futuristic concept cars, and deep mechanics like the Car Viewer and expanded collector challenges makes this update a must-play for every series collector and virtual racing driver.
